If you're an aerialist in pursuit of better lines, if you've always wanted to be a contortionist but never knew where to start, or if you've just wanted to be able to touch your toes, this class is for you. We'll focus on developing controlled range of motion in the legs, hips, back, and shoulders in this class.

Contortion is a specific and respected art form that requires diligence, breath, and mobility. To do contortion means to respect the international contortion traditions from around the world and to proceed slowly, safely, and with skilled technique. Students must also sign up for deep stretch to take this class and need to have a strong backbend that makes a U shape (open hips and shoulders) to take this class.

Pre-requisites: Must also enroll in deep stretch and take both classes together. Strong and confident U shaped backbend where the back is supported via open shoulders and hips.

For aerialists ages 12+ with experience. This workshop is specifically designed for the intermediate/advanced fabric or rope artist who wants to dive deep into the theory and practice of wheel downs and polish or improve on this amazing skill! Required pre-requisites: strong aerial practice, understanding of how to wrap a wheel down, comfort attempting multiple inversions in the air and doing continuous wheel down progressions over the course of a long form workshop.

Saturday 12/18 from 9-11am

This workshop is designed to guide adults through a series of tumbling progressions that will support healthy and playful movement in a non-competitive environment. We will work on rolls, cartwheels, basic bridge shapes, and other movement patterns with a focus on safe and creative adaptations for all bodies, and a theoretical and anatomical understanding of tumbling patterns specifically as they appear in the adult body. This workshop is designed to support adults who never learned tumbling as a kid in learning these patterns for the first time, or to support people in re-kindling their love for an comfort with tumbling after a long time away.

Straps is a conditioning heavy apparatus constructed of two pieces of webbing. Class is designed to connect students with baseline vocabulary and conditioning for straps training. Act Creation Lab (8+) $200 Purchase required to enroll

Fridays from 7:30-9pm starting April 29 and ending June 17, 2022 with Holly Adams and Amy Cohen

All ages 8+ and experience levels are welcome to join us in the lab. Students should come with a pre-existing idea of what circus discipline/s you want to work with and a circus vocabulary with which to create an act. Note that this isn't a class focused on learning new tricks, rather an opportunity to explore creativity within your vocabulary to make an act with a beginning, middle, and end.

If you are excited about performing but haven't had the chance to make an act yet - or you are a seasoned performing seeking a structured environment in which to create, this is the class for you! If you are interested in participating in our summer tour and want hands on support making an act this is the perfect way to do it.

At the end of class students will have an act to use as they wish - in live performance this summer or perhaps to share via video with friends and family.

Open practice is a time for self directed exploration in a circus discipline you have experience in. A moderator is on site for curriculum, rigging, and other support but will not be formally guiding the time as a class. Each student get's their own "zone" with a rigging point.

Pre-requisite: At least one session of intro to aerial at Circus Culture, or experience with "aerial yoga" or related movement.

Stretch, strengthen, and relax in the air! We will use the hammock (aerial sling) to support a slow and mindful style of aerial practice. This class will be guided in a flow style inspired by yoga and dance, come ready to slow down and breathe! For all bodies and experience levels.

Pre-requisite: Comfort attempting to kick up to a handstand in the middle of the room, or against a wall.
Ages 10-adult

This all levels handstand class is designed to prepare and encourage handstanders of all levels! Class includes a vigorous warm up and body preparation, and various drills and skills to support your handstand practice.

Morning practice $20 per class No purchase required to enroll

Morning practice is a 75 min open time available to returning students. There will be a moderator to support with basic or emergency needs. This time is largely designed for individuals who are very independent in their practice.

Building your aerial warmup and flexibility routine (16+) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

This workshop is an aerial conditioning focused class designed to aid students in understanding the components of strength building in your warm up as well as methods to integrate stretching and mobility work into your routine.

Pre-requisites: For anyone with an aerial practice.

Int/Adv Fabric - Slack Drops (ages 12 - adult) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

This workshop will have students focusing on star slack drop and angel drop.
Please only sign up if you already have a strong understanding of star drops!

Pre-requisites: ability to invert in the air multiple times within a class session and an understanding of star drop wraps and theory.


Aerial inversion tips and techniques (ages 16+) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

This workshop is designed to support individuals seeking to strengthen, unlock, refine, or explore their inversion. Ability to invert in the air is not necessary - everyone will work at their own pace and be met where they are.

Pre-requisites: An active aerial practice.

Intermediate Fabric Climbs (ages 12-Adult) $20 per class No purchase required to enroll

This workshop focuses on a wide range of climbs to expand your tool box, and will prepare you to have an expanded vocabulary of climbs for the fall session!

Pre-requisites: Russian climb, inverting from the ground.

Beg/Int Hammock conditioning and basic drops - all levels (ages 12-adult)) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

This workshop uses the hammock or aerial sling to build strength and pair this strength with basic drops.

Pre-requisites: An active aerial practice, comfort exploring dropping motions in the air.

Advanced fabric wheel down variation and entrances (ages 12 - adult) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

This workshop is for advanced fabric students who are comfortable with wheel downs and inverting multiple times in the air.

Learn add ons to your wheel down and expand your knowledge of entrances to this challenging and rewarding skill.

Pre-requisites: Comfort with wheel down entrance, rotations, and exits plus ability to invert multiple times in the air.



All levels Restorative Hammock Stretching (ages 16-adult) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

In this class students will work on stretching and caring for our bodies in the hammocks as well as other playful movements. Plan to feel playful, relaxed, and all stretched out by the end of class.

Pre-requisites: Active aerial practice.


Preparing for aerial sequencing - any discipline (ages 12 - adult) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

During this workshop students will pick an aerial apparatus they are already familiar with (at least 3-5 skills). Students will then explore how to choose skills and connect them to work towards making a sequence that flows and connects thoughtfully. Students will have their own rigging point for the duration of the workshop so they can explore on their chosen apparatus. Note - this workshop is not designed to teach you new tricks so much as the skill set to connect the things you already know.

Pre-requisite: Come prepared knowing which apparatus you want to work with and with confident knowledge of 3-5 skills on that apparatus.



Aerial sequencing - the workshop! (ages 12- adult) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

This workshop is designed for students who already have a series of skills that they know they want to connect together into a sequence, or even an act, on a certain apparatus! If you are not sure, please come to the previous preparing for sequencing workshop.

Pre-requisites: For those with an active aerial practice. Please know which skills you want to use for sequencing, and which apparatus. If you do not have skills you want to use, come to the workshop labeled “preparing for sequencing” first.



All levels Hammock Strength and Flexibility (ages 16+) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

Learn how to develop strength and flexibility using the hammock in this all levels class. Focus will be on using the sling for conditioning and stretching and then completing class with a deep relaxation.

Pre-requisites: Active aerial practice.

Intermediate Lyra Transitions (Ages 12- adult) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

A chance for intermediate students with a baseline foundation of Lyra mounts, dismounts, poses, rotations to explore the world of transitions on the Lyra! We will practice getting from one pose to another with creative prompts to inspire new movement patterns. Be ready to get funky and find new pathways!

Pre-requisites: Twelve weeks of Lyra learning minimum. Students will be met where they are to find pathways between movements they are comfortable with but should have previous Lyra specific experience.


Advanced Fabric - Hipkey Double Star Drop (ages 12 - adult) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

For advanced fabric students - spend the hour focusing on learning this fun, new drop that combines hipkey with double star for a spectacular showstopper! Students must have inversions and hipkey in the air on both sides and be confident doing double star drop.

Advanced Fabric - Kitchen Sink Drop (ages 12 - adult) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

For advanced fabric students- this workshop will focus on the kitchen sink drop. Be prepared for a challenging drop with lots of new wrapping techniques. Must be comfortable inverting in the air on both sides and with double star drop.

Pre-requisites: Inverting in the air on both sides, confident double star drop.

Beginner/Intermediate Silks Transitions (Ages 12 - adult) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

In this class beginner and intermediate silks students will work on getting from one pose to the next on fabric. You will be presented with creative prompts, and be prepared to work with other students collaboratively.

Pre-requisites: Hip key from the ground.


Advanced Fabric- Beehives (ages 16+) $20 per class No purchase required to enroll

In this workshop you'll learn the advanced beehive drop. Beehives are "open drops" which require very careful body control and hand placement to do successfully! Students must be able to invert in the air on both sides, and do star drops and wheel downs confidently.

Beginner/Intermediate Duo Lyra (ages 12 - Adult) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

For students with beg/int Lyra vocabulary already, learn duo Lyra techniques and poses where you work with a partner to create a whole new set of movements. Sign up with a partner, or come alone and be ready to work with someone new! There will be physical contact with other participants in this workshop.

Pre-requisites: At least 3-5 confident Lyra skills, active listening and engagement to communicate well with a partner, and confidence getting on and off the Lyra with ease.


Playful Hammock for Kids! (ages 8-11yrs) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

This workshop is designed to welcome circus kids back to Circus Culture after a summer away! Anyone who has taken any kind of circus camp, class, or workshop is welcome to join us again.

Please note, this class is not for students who have never taken classes at Circus Culture, please join our Fall session if you are completely new to circus!

Pre-requisite: Any circus class, camp, or workshop at Circus Culture or another circus school.

Kids Epic Aerial Obstacle Course (ages 8-11yrs) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

In this workshop kids will build an epic obstacle course using mats and silks and equipment for a super fun and silly time!


Pre-requisites: Familiarity with Circus Culture space via a class, camp, or workshop and maturity respect the equipment and other students while designing ones' own play world.




Intermediate Fabric Drops from Cross Back Crochet (ages 12+) $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

Learn to wrap and polish drops that start from cross back crochet such as butterfly 360, bucket drop, and more. Students should feel comfortable inverting from the ground repeatedly to learn wraps, and inverting from the air repeatedly to try the drops.

Pre-requisites: Students should have a confident practice of foot knots, hip key, rebecca split, and climbing technique and feel comfortable inverting from the ground to learn wraps, and inverting from the air to try the drops.

In this workshop you will work on exercises in the air and on the ground that will help increase your core and grip strength on any apparatus.

Advanced Fabric - Illusion Splits Sequence $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

Learn a creative sequence that involves the illusion splits, star shapes, and other new poses. Students need to be able to do a pull up and invert in the air to work on this sequence.

Pre-requisites: Pull up and inversion in the air.


Beginner/Intermediate rest poses on Fabric $20 per class A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

Learn new positions in the aerial fabric that can serve as a rest posture for sequencing that are based in foot locks and hip keys. Students must be confident with foot locks (figure 8 and dance wrap) and hip keys.

Aerial conditioning is the perfect complement for Aerialists wishing to increase strength, stamina, form, and technique. Class will use various different apparatus, floor work, stations, and group activities for a playful and intense hour of conditioning.

Intro to Aerial drop in is an opportunity for new students to try out the aerial arts! Each week students will be met where they are, and introductory material will be taught. Please note, this class is not designed for progressive learning but rather to give a taster of what aerial arts are like. Making Connections: Dance Movement for Circus Artists (for high school aged circus artists) $175 Purchase required to enroll

July 10-14, 2023

Age range: high schoolers (entering 9th-12th grade in fall 2023)

In this artistic movement intensive designed for high schoolers, we will explore techniques to grow movement vocabulary, quality, and texture, and develop sequences, improvisation skills, and ways to connect and embellish the spaces between circus skills.

Each day will begin with a floor-based dance warm up, then continue on to include learning choreography, building movement skills, and working to develop your own sequence, either in the air or on the ground. Focus will be placed on learning and creating dynamic sequences, mastering movements like rolls and jumps, and building a toolbox full of resources for inspiration and experimentation!

Participants should have previous circus experience and an interest in linking their circus skills with dance and movement skills in order to support their creative expression.

Description: This workshop will focus on drills and technique to develop strength and pathways working towards high level skills. The first half of the workshop will be various conditioning exercises as progressions including nutcrackers, meathooks and skin the cats. The second half will focus on flares, rolls ups, butterflies and switches.

Ages: 12+
Prerequisites: Students should be able to do a straight arm inversion and a meathook.

Contortion with Cirque Us (12+) $20 per class No purchase required to enroll

This workshop, taught by Tyler Jacobson, will focus on the fundamentals of responsible contortion training. Please note the pre-requisites, they are not negotiable for this workshop. Ages 12* and up.

Prerequisites for this class include being close to a split (hips less than 6" from the ground preferred), touching toes in pike, and the ability to comfortably hold a bridge for at least 15 seconds. A 30-second handstand hold against a wall is also recommended.

The first half of the workshop will explain how to safely develop leg and back flexibility; the second half will focus on the technical cues needed to develop classic contortion positions. Skills covered in this workshop may include oversplits, needle scales, chest stands, and contortion handstands/elbowstands.

*This workshops is focused towards mature and focused learners who are serious about contortion and willing to go at the pace of the instructor.

This class is designed to support your practice dancing both on the ground and in the air. Class will have a shared focus on floor choreography, and dance (single point) trapeze, as well as the combining of the two into floor to air sequences.

Prerequisites: Students should have an active aerial practice, comfort getting on and off the trapeze from the ground, familiarity with poses on the bar such as sitting star, mermaid, dragonfly, and comfort exploring creative movement.

Slow and steady aerial is designed for students with aerial experience of any variety to take a thoughtful approach to aerial. Focus is on developing an understanding of theory, practice, and autonomy and ownership of one's own aerial practice in a way that meets them where they are. Students completely new to circus should join us in Intro to aerial.

Prerequisites: For students with at least one full session of circus classes that include aerial skills. This session, slow and steady is not designed for students who have never learned aerial arts - please see intro to aerial!

This class is for confident aerialists who enjoys exploring intermediate and advanced fabric sequencing, drops, and theory. This class focuses on developing strength and body control in the air, while also developing sequencing and creative skills.

Prerequisites: Consistent inversions and hip keys in the air on both sides. Theoretical and practical knowledge of single star wrap, wheel down, wrapped 360, belay, and comfort with complex and dynamic movement in the air.

This class is designed for adults who already have experience with partner acrobatics and want to take their practice further. This session acro class will be team taught by a rotation of Circus Culture teachers who will each take on a different topic to dive into with the class. Topics will include: Two highs and variations, L basing, creative acrobatic movement, acro balancing, and more. Participants are welcome to sign up with a buddy they feel comfortable working with, or to sign up solo. Students will be engaged in physical contact with others in the class with informed consent and thoughtful spotting at the forefront.
