Intro to Aerial (16+) $220Purchase required to enroll

This course will provide an in depth experience of aerial fabric and static trapeze. By the end of the class you will have a repertoire of vocabulary on each apparatus and be able to string various moves together into sequences. Come ready to work and play hard! Class starts with a playful tumbling based warm up and stretch and ends with a brief cool down. Students are encouraged to supplement this class with aerial conditioning, stretching, and open practice. Open to beginners or those with previous experience who want to continue refining and building on the basics.

This youth circus class has it all! Tumbling, juggling, wire walking, aerials and more! Please note that there are 2 class options: Mondays OR Tuesdays from 4-5pm.

Homeschool Circus (7-12yrs) $202Purchase required to enroll

A special daytime class just for homeschool and unschooled kids! We'll be doing all of the circus arts - aerial, juggling, balancing, tight wire, props, and more - plus lots of games, acrobatics, and pyramids.

Junior Troupe $360Purchase required to enroll

Junior Troupe is an exciting new opportunity for young artists who have previous circus experience and are enrolled in classes at Circus Culture. Participation is via invitation or audition only. Ages 8-12.

The expectation of being in the troupe is that you participate for the entire 2018/2019 school year- through the fall, winter, and spring terms. There will be a variety of performance and special training opportunities for members of the troupe. We can work with/around schedules as long as you are committed to being a part of the group! To audition email info@circusculture.org Troupers are expected to take part in at least one other weekly session in addition to the Thursday time - any skills class that fits their age range counts!

Financial assistance is available on a case by case basis if needed.

Troupe is an exciting opportunity for young artists (ages 13+) with circus experience who are currently enrolled in classes at Circus Culture who wish to pursue technical and artistic circus training in an inclusive environment. Participation is via invitation or audition only. Troupers are expected to take part during the entire 2018/19 school year - through Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions at Circus Culture. We are open to working around scheduling issues for those invited to participate when necessary.

Troupers are expected to take part in at least one other class session per week from the list below, and are encouraged to purchase a monthly unlimited community class pass which entitles them to unlimited participation in drop in classes. To audition email info@circusculture.org

For youth turning 13 who are seeking to shift from Jr. troupe to troupe - please contact info@circusculture.org before registering to confirm which troupe is best. In some cases our teachers may recommend that youth stay in Jr. Troupe even if they are 13.

Adult All Things Circus $202Purchase required to enroll

All things circus takes a gentle approach to teaching a wide variety of circus disciplines that we offer at Circus Culture. This class is perfect for any adult wishing to try it all - juggling, acrobatics, aerial, balancing, handstands, and more - in an inclusive environment.

Mixed Aerial 2/3 (16+) $220Purchase required to enroll

Prerequisites:
Level 2
Fabric: Can successfully climb the fabric two ways, invert from the air, execute a hip key in the air, figure 8 foot knot, and aerial dance wraps, can do the revolving door drop comfortably.
Trapeze: One knee hang, one straddle up under the bar, hold yourself up in pull up position for 15 seconds, pull over on the trapeze (legs can help!), hold a front balance.

Level 3
Fabric: At least 3 different climbs performed cleanly including opposite side straddle climb. Consistent revolving door drop, single star drop, windmill hip keys on both sides, cross back straddle, Rebecca split, and half monty. Fluency and comfort experimenting in the air and ability to do a pull up to bicep hold after executing three consecutive movements in a row without coming down.
Trapeze: Clean back beats and knee beats, at least one pull up, sitting on bar pull up to backward roll, successful front balance + roll down and roll back up to front balance.

Learn the art of Lyra, or aerial hoop. This class is designed for those trying Lyra for the first time as well as individuals who have a beginner level vocabulary on Lyra.

Come play upside down, bounce, build, stack, toss, catch, roll, and wiggle around our super kid friendly space. This structured class includes all the different circus disciplines - hang from the trapeze, walk on the tight wire, juggle with a friend, jump on the mini trampoline, and more.

No Experience Necessary. This class is designed for individuals who want to get their first taste of being in the air as well as people with aerial experience who are looking to become comfortable with aerial hammock vocabulary. Class will offer skills and techniques that culminate in a sequence.

No experience necessary! The unexpected, the ridiculous and the sublime, it's all part of a clown's world. We will discover clown moments and POVs, characters, learn performance skills and create bits!

Open Practice and Drop-in Classes

No experience necessary, but note there is no formal instruction at open practice. Under 16 must come with an adult.

Jugglers of all ages gather at our Sunday & Wednesday juggling open practices. Come ready for self directed and community oriented practice time. Balls, clubs, rings, scarves, hooping, poi, plates, and more are all available for your use - or bring your own!

Stretching and Flexibility (16+) $15 per classFrom $12 per visit with Community Class Pass (12 classes) passA credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

In this class you’ll be increasing your flexibility by focusing on a particular area of flexibility each week. Splits, straddles, back bends, and more will be stretched in depth. Students are welcome to come 15 minutes early to warm up!

Youth Open Practice is an opportunity for young people with circus experience to practice their skills. A teacher will be on site to support, spot, and guide students in their practice. Students should come to open practice with an idea of what skills they would like to work on.

This all-level class is designed for people at any stage in their handstand journey. Each week will focus on a different aspect of the handstand. Recommended 16+.

Full body stretch is your weekly opportunity to safely find your full body range of motion, and gain mobility via a thoughtful and playful approach that draws from stretching traditions from around the world. Each class ends with a Thai Massage style cool down!

No experience required. Curious about getting into aerial? Want to brush up on your basics and get stronger? Intro to Aerial drop in is for you! Each student will work through our 12 week intro to aerial curriculum at their own pace. Focus will shift between fabric and trapeze. Attending 12-16 sessions of this class will position most students to be able to move on to Aerial 1.

Note: We highly encourage students to take the 12 week "Intro to Aerial" course on Wednesdays from 7:15-8:30pm. This drop in Intro to Aerial class is great for people with a fluctuating schedule or as a supplement to the 12 week course.

Ages 10-18yrs. From beginners to advanced students, this class will cover everything from rolls, cartwheels, basic handstands, backbends, and walkovers to round offs and handsprings. Tumbling classes are open to all levels and two teachers are present at each session - one to support those with previous experience and one to support those new to class or beginning their tumbling journey.

Partner Acrobatics Fundamentals Drop In $15 per classFrom $12 per visit with Community Class Pass (12 classes) passA credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

In this all levels, structured drop in class we will cover a variety of static partner moves that involve stacking, counter balancing and weight sharing such as thigh stands, sitting on shoulders, L-basing, and standing on shoulders.
You do not need a partner to take the class. All participants will work with a variety of students throughout the class.

For ages 18+
This drop in tumbling class is specifically catered towards adults who want a gentle entry into tumbling, or who have not tumbled in a long time and want to get it back in their body. Focus will be on a thorough cardio warm up and active stretch followed by rolls, cartwheels, basic handstands, backbends, and walkovers.
Tumbling classes are open to all levels and two teachers are present at each session - one to support those with previous experience and one to support those new to class or beginning their tumbling journey.

No experience necessary. Being able to hold your body weight in pull up position for 20 seconds is recommended to make the most out of the class. In this class you’ll be increasing your strength via climbs, pull ups, push ups, leg lifts, and more. A great class for those taking our aerial classes, or just wanting to gain a super strong core via playful yet hard work.

This class is designed for individuals who are looking to truly build the foundation that will allow for aerial work such as climbing, holding a chin up position, and going upside down. Designed for those who are not yet comfortable lifting their own body weight, we will adapt and modify in order to ensure a safe, artfful, and satisfying aerial experience. All ages and abilities encouraged to join.

Open to anyone wishing to practice their handstands! There will be no formal instruction during this time but a teacher will be available to assist.

Ages 8-15
This class focuses on ground based balancing and object manipulation skills such as rolling globe, tight wire, object balancing, props, unicycling and juggling. Whether you are wishing to improve coordination and focus or seriously pursuing circus arts - this class is a must!

Family Circus Jam is an opportunity for the whole family to join in on circus skills ranging from juggling, wire walking, acrobatics, and aerial. No experience needed and all ages and abilities welcome. Join us for a grab bag of fun!

$20 per family.
1 person per family can register to represent the whole family. We encourage registration to guarantee spaces in the class.

Fabric Booster (16+) $15 per classFrom $12 per visit with Community Class Pass (12 classes) passA credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

Pre-requisite: Participation in Intro to Aerial.
Booster classes begin with set drills and sequences to solidify core skills on the apparatus and moves on to provide instruction and support for polishing and perfecting skills that you have been working on. Teachers will provide technique tips, structured support for skill development, and a forum for you to improve and polish your skills. We recommend you come to class with ideas about skills you have learned and would like to work on.

Aerial open practice is for current or former students ages 16+ who wish to practice their aerial skills and/or condition and stretch. We notice that people who come practice at least once a week truly excel!

Youth Flexibility (8-18yrs) $15 per classFrom $12 per visit with Community Class Pass (12 classes) passA credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

No experience necessary. This class is designed for youth (8-18yrs) who want to increase their range of motion and learn safe and effective ways to use the natural flexibility they possess. All levels and abilities welcome.

Acro Open Practice is designed for people who have previous experience with partner and group acrobatics - via circus, AcroYoga, cheerleading, sports acrobatics, or other related modalities. A moderator will be on site to ensure proper safety and spotting. Want to come but don't have experience? Come to class first- practice is free when you attend class. Please note tumbling is not permitted during this time due to limited space.

Int/Adv Lyra Open Practice $10 per classFrom $12 per visit with Community Class Pass (12 classes) passA credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

A time for those with experience on Lyra to train together with staff support for spotting and innovation. This practice time is only open to those who have taken Lyra at Circus Culture and is not designed for beginners - if you have experience from elsewhere please contact us to see if it is the right fit.

Dance is a fundamental aspect of circus and performing. In this class students will learn techniques they can apply to their circus training. Please contact us if you are not in Troupe but are interested in participating.

Jump back into your circus practice with this intensive 2 hour conditioning and active flexibility class after the holiday break. Join us for a supportive, engaging, and challenging beginning to your 2019 circus practice! Take all 4 classes or choose as many as fit into your schedule.

Workshops

Restore and Release Workshop (3/23) $35 per classA credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

Join special guest Cadence Dubus for her signature workshop: Restore and Release. The workshop is 2 hours of deep tissue release using foam rollers, massage balls and basic stability exercises accessible to all bodies and fitness levels. The workshop is designed to relieve chronic aches and pain due to tension or misalignment. Participants leave feeling longer, stronger and refreshed. It's a lovely introduction to the Self-Care based Fitness Cadence teaches and preaches.

Ages 12+. No prior experience needed. Injured/aching bodies welcome.

Introduction to Aerial Retreat (March 29-31) $200Purchase required to enroll

Join Circus Culture founder Amy Cohen and guest coaches from Circus Culture for a deep and thoughtful dive into the world of aerial arts. Designed for locals and visitors alike, this workshop will focus on the fundamentals of the aerial arts and is meant for individuals with no experience whatsoever in the aerial arts. Aerial learning will be paired with stretching thai massage, rigging education, and complemented by community gathering and meals.

Cost: $200

Ages 18+

Adults wishing to take part in this retreat with a family member aged 13-17 are invited to reach out to us so that we can discuss if it is a good fit. All abilities and levels of fitness are welcome.

Join guest coach Emily Healy in this special Lyra workshop!

We will learn some unusual transitions to/from amazon, and then look at skin-the cat as an entrance from the ground, as a transition from the top of the hoop, and as a progression toward other tricks focused on the back space of the body. We will also explore techniques to creatively combine these elements.

Prerequisites: completion of at least one lyra session class (6 or 12 weeks), comfort in amazon, and willingness to practice skin the cat

This camp is modeled after our most popular after school class - acro and aerial. Get ready for a week of handstands, tumbling, group pyramids, partner acrobatics aerial fabric, lyra, static trapeze, hammock and more plus games and lots of time to connect with other circusers. This camp is perfect for kids and teens who love to be upside down. All campers receive a Circus Culture T-shirt!

This camp is geared towards students who are excited to dive deeply into circus skills in a focused way. If you are looking for more of a play based camp, try our All Things Circus camp!

All Things Circus Camp (7-12yrs - max 40) $300Purchase required to enroll

Ages: 7-12

Spend five days playing games and learning circus techniques such as static trapeze, juggling, group acrobatics, rolling globe, aerial fabric, tight wire, hooping, flower sticks, diabolo, and more. Bring it all together with a casual show for friends and family on the last day. All levels welcome and students are invited to sign up for multiple weeks if they are interested in a truly circusy summer. Those with circus experience will have the opportunity to develop their skills. All campers receive a Circus Culture T-shirt!

Two-Week Circus on the Road Performance Camp (10-18yrs) July 29-Aug 9 $600Purchase required to enroll

Previous experience required

During performance camp we spend the first week practicing circus skills, creating our ensemble, and putting a show together suitable for touring in our community, complete with our aerial rig, full acts and costumes. The second week, we take the show on the road, performing for local community organizations and busking on the commons. With two weeks to learn, create, and perform you will be developing your skills and creativity to the next level. This camp is designed for students who have already learned circus in some form - either at Circus Culture or elsewhere.

This camp requires that campers have the maturity to help with all aspects of putting on a show - from navigating casting to packing up the van to performing. All campers will be asked to sign a performers agreement. All campers receive a Circus Culture T-shirt!

Join expert guest unicycle coach Jesse AlFord for a week full of unicycling. Jesse is the most sought after unicycle coach in the USA and we are so thrilled to be welcoming him - don’t miss this opportunity! Beginners wishing to start their unicycle journey for the first time are welcome alongside seasoned unicyclers wishing to work on tricks, jumps, freestyle moves, doubles moves and group patterns.
