No experience necessary - aerial is for everyone and every body! This inclusive class is our entry point to aerial and is designed to meet everyone where they are and provide an empowering, physical, and fun opportunity to get upside down, build strength, and connect in community. Participants will do both trapeze and fabric each session and work towards building vocabulary from our intro curriculum.

Please note that we are offing an All Things Circus Focus class for 6-8 year olds on Mondays from 3-4pm for students who have the maturity to thrive in a structured learning environment and have the interest and focus to build circus skills and techniques.

Homeschool Circus (7-12yrs) $235Purchase required to enroll

A special daytime class just for homeschool and unschooled kids! We'll be doing all of the circus arts - aerial, juggling, balancing, tight wire, props, and more - plus lots of games, acrobatics, and pyramids.

Lyra 1 + 2 (16+) $235Purchase required to enroll

This class builds on the fundamentals of Intro to Lyra, introduces dynamic tricks, with additional focus on conditioning, technique, and sequence-building.

Learn the art of Lyra, or aerial hoop. This class is designed for those trying Lyra for the first time as well as individuals who have a beginner level vocabulary on Lyra.

Mixed Aerial 2 (16+) $235Purchase required to enroll

Pre-requisites:
Fabric: Can successfully climb the fabric two ways, invert from the air, execute a hip key in the air, figure 8 foot knot, and aerial dance wraps, can do the revolving door drop comfortably.
Trapeze: One knee hang, one straddle up under the bar, hold yourself up in pull up position for 15 seconds, pull over on the trapeze (legs can help!), hold a front balance.
Although this class is for 16+ we may make exceptions for youth who are serious aerialists. Contact us if you are interested.

Advanced Aerial (levels 3+) $250Purchase required to enroll

This class is designed for aerialists who understand the theory behind their practice, are able to retain complex wraps and patterns, and who have techniques for self practice and aerial exploration. Class will be broken up into four sections, with conditioning followed by three stations comprised of trapeze, fabric, and aerial sequencing. Skill pre-requisites on vertical apparatus include double star drop, cross back straddle, 2 consecutive straight leg wheel down rotations, 3 consecutive straight leg inversions. Bar apparatus pre-requisites include front and back hip circles on trapeze, knee and long hang beats, pull overs, confident angle hang, and a toe or heel hang.

Intro to Acro and Aerial (10-18yrs) $235Purchase required to enroll

For mature teens and tweens who are excited about learning circus skills - this class will focus on acrobatics, tumbling, and aerial arts. This class is for new students or students wishing to refine fundamental skills.

Intermediate Acro and Aerial (levels 1 + 2, 10-18yrs) $235Purchase required to enroll

For mature teens and tweens who are excited about learning circus skills - this class will focus on acrobatics, tumbling, and aerial arts. This class is for students with previous circus experience.
Pre-requisites for level 1: climbing solo on fabric, comfortable sitting on shoulders

For intermediate aerial we ask that youth show the ability to retain patterns and techniques over time as well as a desire to self practice to improve.

This class is designed to offer the basics of tumbling to beginners including rolls, jumps, cartwheels, and other developmentally appropriate patterns in a supportive, playful, and non-competitive environment.

Tumbling and Circus for 3-5 year olds $235Purchase required to enroll

This class is designed to offer the basics of tumbling including rolls, jumps, cartwheels, and other developmentally appropriate patterns in a supportive, playful, and non-competitive environment. Students will also work on a variety of circus skills including aerials, balancing, wire walking and more.
This class is offered both Tuesdays and Thursdays. You welcome to sign up for one or both days.

Intermediate Duo Trapeze (16+) $215

This class is designed for aerialists who have duo aerial experience and wish to take their practice to the next level. Please sign up with a partner you plan to work with, and if you wish to attend but don't have one, contact us and we can assist you! Participants must have a pre-existing duo aerial vocabulary and/or be at level 3 or up. (Please note that because this class starts on September 29 there are only 11 classes in the session).

For 6-8 year old students who have the maturity to thrive in a structured learning environment and have the interest and focus to build circus skills and techniques. This may not be the right fit for all 6-8 year olds and Circus Culture staff reserves the right to shift students to a different class if necessary to promote the appropriate learning environment for this class.

Our most popular class for youth is now for teens! Try it all - aerial, acro, juggling, balance, and more. Experienced circusers who have done previous sessions of All Things Circus will be challenged and build on their skills while those new to circus will be welcomed and introduced to the basics.

Explore the joys of partner aerial - no partner necessary to participate. We will work on a variety of apparatus to develop the core skills and techniques to enjoy duo aerial.

Adult Troupe

Adult troupe is designed to cultivate a space to train, build skills, create ensemble circus work, and build community and connection among adult members of the Circus Culture community. Strictly 21+ and designed for ALL adults - no matter what age (we're talking to you folks 55+!). Pre-requisites: introductory experience in juggling, partner acrobatics, and aerial arts. Circus Culture offers drop in classes in these disciplines if folks want to join but haven't explored one of the required realms. Commitment is annual and you are expected to attend at least 3 Friday sessions per month in order to support the group dynamic. Troupers are expected to participate from September through May and to take one additional circus class per week. We are open to making exceptions for the right person so they can participate. Members of the adult troupe will have the opportunity to perform if they desire. Want to join? - application will be releases shortly. Pricing and more information will be released to those accepted. Circus Tots (18 months-3 years WITH ADULT) $115Purchase required to enroll

Welcome to the magical world of circus arts where you and your toddler ages 18 months to 3 years will learn how to tumble, climb, and create together. Participation in this class requires active support from a parent or guardian.
Please note that this class meets for 6 weeks starting September 26.

Intermediate Lyra (16+) $100Purchase required to enroll

For students with previous lyra experience and a desire to explore more challenging and specialized tricks and techniques. The focus will be on identifying a personal lyra "style" and strengths (dynamic tricks, flexy tricks, spinning technique, etc.) and thinking critically about concepts and sequencing.

Littles All Things Circus (4-5yrs) $220Purchase required to enroll

Come play upside down, bounce, build, stack, toss, catch, roll, and wiggle around our super kid friendly space. This structured class includes all the different circus disciplines - hang from the trapeze, walk on the tight wire, juggle with a friend, jump on the mini trampoline, and more.

Junior Troupe $360Purchase required to enroll

Junior Troupe is an exciting new opportunity for young artists who have previous circus experience and are enrolled in classes at Circus Culture. Participation is via invitation or audition only. Ages 8-12.

The expectation of being in the troupe is that you participate for the entire 2018/2019 school year- through the fall, winter, and spring terms. There will be a variety of performance and special training opportunities for members of the troupe. We can work with/around schedules as long as you are committed to being a part of the group! To audition email info@circusculture.org Troupers are expected to take part in at least one other weekly session in addition to the Thursday time - any skills class that fits their age range counts!

Financial assistance is available on a case by case basis if needed.

Troupe is an exciting opportunity for young artists (ages 13+) with circus experience who are currently enrolled in classes at Circus Culture who wish to pursue technical and artistic circus training in an inclusive environment. Participation is via invitation or audition only. Troupers are expected to take part during the entire 2018/19 school year - through Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions at Circus Culture. We are open to working around scheduling issues for those invited to participate when necessary.

Troupers are expected to take part in at least one other class session per week from the list below, and are encouraged to purchase a monthly unlimited community class pass which entitles them to unlimited participation in drop in classes. To audition email info@circusculture.org

For youth turning 13 who are seeking to shift from Jr. troupe to troupe - please contact info@circusculture.org before registering to confirm which troupe is best. In some cases our teachers may recommend that youth stay in Jr. Troupe even if they are 13.

Mixed Aerial 3 (16+) $220Purchase required to enroll

Prerequisites:

Fabric: At least 3 different climbs performed cleanly including opposite side straddle climb. Consistent revolving door drop, single star drop, windmill hip keys on both sides, cross back straddle, Rebecca split, and half monty. Fluency and comfort experimenting in the air and ability to do a pull up to bicep hold after executing three consecutive movements in a row without coming down.
Trapeze: Clean back beats and knee beats, at least one pull up, sitting on bar pull up to backward roll, successful front balance + roll down and roll back up to front balance.

Open Practice and Drop-in Classes

No experience necessary, but note there is no formal instruction at open practice. Under 16 must come with an adult.

Jugglers of all ages gather at our Sunday & Wednesday juggling open practices. Come ready for self directed and community oriented practice time. Balls, clubs, rings, scarves, hooping, poi, plates, and more are all available for your use - or bring your own!

In this class you’ll be increasing your flexibility by focusing on a particular area of flexibility each week. Splits, straddles, back bends, and more will be stretched in depth. Students are welcome to come 15 minutes early to warm up!

Youth Open Practice is an opportunity for young people with circus experience to practice their skills. A teacher will be on site to support, spot, and guide students in their practice. Students should come to open practice with an idea of what skills they would like to work on.

This all-level class is designed for people at any stage in their handstand journey. Each week will focus on a different aspect of the handstand. Recommended 16+.

In this all levels, structured drop in class we will cover a variety of static partner moves that involve stacking, counter balancing and weight sharing such as thigh stands, sitting on shoulders, L-basing, and standing on shoulders.
You do not need a partner to take the class. All participants will work with a variety of students throughout the class.

For ages 18+
This drop in tumbling class is specifically catered towards adults who want a gentle entry into tumbling, or who have not tumbled in a long time and want to get it back in their body. Focus will be on a thorough cardio warm up and active stretch followed by rolls, cartwheels, basic handstands, backbends, and walkovers.
Tumbling classes are open to all levels and two teachers are present at each session - one to support those with previous experience and one to support those new to class or beginning their tumbling journey.

Aerial Open Practice (16+, with support) $10 per classFrom $12 per visit with Community Class Pass (12 classes) passA credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

Teachers are available on site to answer questions, spot, and refresh students attending open practice.
Aerial open practice is for current or former students ages 16+ who wish to practice their aerial skills and/or condition and stretch. We notice that people who come practice at least once a week truly excel!

This class is designed for those with experience in partner and group acrobatics. Focus will be on two high, three high, foot to hand, and hand to hand progressions as well as conditioning and rooting in the fundamentals. Please note that pre-requisites for attendance are strictly enforced for this class!

Pre-requisites: Confidence as a base or flyer in a two high, confidence both basing and flying half high and sitting on shoulders, 30 second spotted handstand

This class is designed for individuals who are eager to build skills to have confidence and strength in the air. Body positivity will be paramount, with a focus on adapting for each person's needs and goals. Class is designed for individuals who are not yet confident holding their own body up in the air, inverting, or going to sitting on the trapeze bar and who wish to work towards those skills in a supportive environment!

Mixed Aerial Booster (16+) $15 per classFrom $12 per visit with Community Class Pass (12 classes) passA credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

This booster is designed to support your aerial practice by giving you the opportunity to polish skills, learn new variations, and master the foundations. It's a great class for make ups if you've missed a session or if you feel you want to drill and refine your skills.

Intensive Conditioning (16+) $15 per classFrom $12 per visit with Community Class Pass (12 classes) passA credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.

One of our most popular classes, intensive conditioning provides a full hour of non-stop, sweat-inducing, aerial based strength drills that aim to boost your strength and stamina for aerial practice, or daily life. There is no pre-requisite to attend as long as you are interested in being pushed physically and are open to adaptations.

For current college students only - a time to train and cultivate connection and community. Open to all college students - $5 drop in fee per person. Participants are expected to abide by our open practice policies for aerial and acrobatics.

Introductory cyr wheel workshop - no experience necessary!
In this workshop we will cover Cyr wheel safety, wheel manipulations, movement, and foundational spinning. Space is limited to 4 people.

In this workshop we will work on your waltz, teach new manipulations, and start building the foundations of rolling in the wheel. Designed for those confident with the waltz who are looking to work on waltz variations and coin rolls.

In this one hour workshop, guest teacher and Brooklyn Strength studio Founder, Cadence Dubus will guide participants using foam rollers and massage balls to affect the stuck fascia causing loss of mobility, joint and chronic muscular pain, and the general tension of life that often takes up posture affecting residence in our body. Come let go of your tension and leave with a longer more relaxed version of yourself. All bodies all fitness levels welcome.

Understanding the Core: Abs, back and rehabilitation

This class focuses on simple exercises to better understand how our abdominal muscles and back muscles work together. Class will address injury prevention and rehabilitation for our hips, lower back, knees and pelvic floor. An excellent class for deepening your relationship to your center, recovering from injury and creating your own injury prevention plan.

Handstands with Alan Cormack (11/24, 18+, FREE!) Free

Want to gain a new perspective upside down? Join Alan for a fresh take on handstanding.

This class is offered free of charge to the Circus Culture community as Alan Cormak is currently completing his Circus Teaching Training from the National Circus School of Montreal (ENC). This class is being offered in support of his finalizing this program, which requires a filmed class be presented to the head of the program.

Please note, by attending this class you consent to being filmed. The footage of class will only be seen and reviewed by the staff at the National Circus School in order to evaluate Alan, and will subsequently be deleted.

All Things Circus Camp (7-12yrs - max 40) $300Purchase required to enroll

Camp hours: 9am to 3pm

Ages: 7-12

Spend five days playing games and learning circus techniques such as static trapeze, juggling, group acrobatics, rolling globe, aerial fabric, tight wire, hooping, flower sticks, diabolo, and more. Bring it all together with a casual show for friends and family on the last day. Some of our All Things Circus camps will run in conjunction with another camp and have a capacity of 24 or 15 campers, depending on the other camp that is running. Weeks when there is no other camp happening during the week, we will be able to accommodate 40 campers (listed below):

Acro and Aerial Camp (10-18yrs) $300Purchase required to enroll

Camp hours: 9am to 3pm
Ages: 10-18
This camp is modeled after our most popular after school class - acro and aerial. Get ready for a week of handstands, tumbling, group pyramids, partner acrobatics aerial fabric, lyra, static trapeze, hammock and more plus games and lots of time to connect with other circusers. This camp is perfect for kids and teens who love to be upside down. All campers receive a Circus Culture T-shirt!

This camp is geared towards students who are excited to dive deeply into circus skills in a focused way. If you are looking for more of a play based camp, try our All Things Circus camp!

After-camp care $75Purchase required to enroll

After camp care is available from 3-5pm. Youth are welcome to practice props that don't need spotting. We may also set up a movie or circus themed crafts. You must register for the entire week of after care.

All Things Circus Camp (7-12yrs, max 15) $300Purchase required to enroll

Camp hours: 9am to 3pm
Ages: 7-12
Spend five days playing games and learning circus techniques such as static trapeze, juggling, group acrobatics, rolling globe, aerial fabric, tight wire, hooping, flower sticks, diabolo, and more. Bring it all together with a casual show for friends and family on the last day. Circus Day Camp (Oct 4-6) $330Purchase required to enroll

This camp is geared towards children of attendees of the New York State Veterinary Conference from October 4-6, 2019.

Spend the day playing games and learning circus skills such as trapeze, juggling, acrobatics, rolling globe, aerial fabric, tight wire, diabolo, and more! All levels welcome. Participants should wear clothing that is comfortable to move in and bring their own lunch, snack and water bottle.

Ages 7-12
Drop off: 7:30am
Pick up: 5:30pm
