Current Policies
Circus Culture recommends that all participants who are eligible receive the COVID-19 vaccine. For support gaining access to the vaccine or testing visit tompkinscountyny.gov/health/covid19vaccine. We ask that people be mindful of the presence of Monkeypox in our community and to stay home if they have any visible sores or legions, which are the main cause of spread via skin to skin contact.
Staff and Student wellness policies - these policies are designed to ensure that our staff and students feel as comfortable as possible refraining from coming to Circus Culture if they have any symptoms or a transmittable illness.
- If at any point a student or staff member has symptoms or any transmissible disease (cold, flu, virus, etc) we ask that they simply stay home. We will provide make up opportunities.
- Circus Culture will provide make up opportunities for those who have missed classes. Students will sign up for these via the honor code on our Pike13 system and dates/times will be announced after the first week of classes.
- We ask students to understand that if a staff person is unable to teach due to illness, Circus Culture will cover the class with the most suitable staff person available, but may need to hold the class as open practice in the case that a teacher with the same skill set is not available.
COVID - 19 mitigation policies:
Policies are subject to change, please email us for day to day updates.
Everyone must sign the safety agreement each time they enter the space.
All students and teachers are required to wear properly fitting masks during classes and private lessons. We suggest N95 or surgical masks as they have been proven to be most effective.
Mats are cleaned daily with Clear Gear cleaning solution.
Maximum ventilation is prioritized at all times. MERV-13 Filters are in use in both spaces.
Students may share equipment as contact has not been proven to be a significant transmitter of COVID - 19.
Hand sanitizer and extra masks are always available.
Spotting will be optional with consent except in emergencies.
Maximum of 20 people in the space at any given time.
Students will always have the option and space to distance if they wish, but will not be required to do so.
For students wishing to know more about our space or do calculations related to risk mitigation, “Main” space is 36ft x 36ft x17ft high and our “New” space is 32ftx 30ftx 17 ft high.
We welcome questions and concerns regarding our COVID-19 policies. Circus Culture adapts with the American Circus Educators Association recommendations around COVID-19. Subject to change.REFUNDS/CREDIT
We process refunds and/or credit upon request only, and on a case by case basis. We engage with each student individually to make sure we come to a mutual agreement. We sincerely value the time, energy, and resources that it requires to engage in circus learning and community.
Baseline policies:
Full refunds are available up until 24 hours before the first class of the session - you must email us to arrange this if needed.
After the start of a session (after your first class), if you wish to cancel enrollment we offer class credit via your online account.
We understand that it is a large financial undertaking to join us for many people - if you have concerns about investing in your circus education financially please email us as we offer customized support and work with students to find the right fit for their budget.
- In general, we do not allow students to “try” a class as most of our classes tend to fill up and this takes a spot away from someone who is in a position to commit to the class. Instead, we’ve started our popular sampler class series to offer one time classes to try things out.
For the fiscal health of our organization, all classes will need 4 students minimum by January 15th to run during the winter session. In the case that a class you signed up for doesn't get to 4 students, we will contact you directly to resolve the situation. After January 15th any classes that did not meet the minimum requirement will be removed from the schedule.
