Dance Trapeze Dynamics and Spin Theory with Troy Lingelbach (16+)
$50 per class
A credit card is required to enroll but isn't charged until the time of service.
Friday, October 24 from 5:30-7pm with Troy Lingelbach
After a brief warmup, we will explore a few dynamic skills that we will use as the entrance to a sequence in the ropes. Students will be able to sequence together their own pathways using the material we cover together. The second half of this workshop will be dedicated to spin technique and theory. We will play with shapes accessible to all levels of students, then use our spins to break down flares, flares to straddle inversions, and find the center of the centrifugal force.
Pre-requisites: strong front balance, comfort in/disposition to spinning, and comfortable inversion in the air (straight arm inversion not required).
*Previous dance trapeze experience is not necessary! This workshop is great for experienced trapeze students as well as strong aerial silk or Lyra students with the above prerequisites looking to explore a new apparatus.
This workshop needs a minimum of 5 people to run. Please note that there is a 48 hour cancellation policy for this workshop. Students have up to 48 hours prior to the workshop to cancel without charge. If you cancel after that, you will be charged full price for the workshop even if you don't attend.
Troy Lingelbach is a circus and performance artist based in Brooklyn. They have been teaching aerial arts in NYC for over a decade. Troy is known for challenging their students with a positive attitude, focusing on technique and efficiency in the air while expanding creativity. Their work is an accumulation of their eclectic background studying theatre, dance, gymnastics, and philosophy. After receiving solid foundational aerial training in San Diego, Troy developed their own movement vocabulary as a self-taught artist, and has sought out coaching around the world (Nicolas Stocco, Kerri Kersinski, Aaron Koz, Iliana Ata) to improve their coaching. Troy’s greatest joy is watching students blossom as artists while pushing the limits of what they believe they are capable of, so let’s fly!
