Spring 2019 Courses

The Spring 2019 session runs from Sunday, March 31 through Friday, June 28. There will be a break from May 2-12 to accommodate for our annual Circus Folk show.

Youth Circus (9-12yrs) $220Purchase required to enroll

This class has it all! Games, juggling, aerial, acrobatics, wire, ball balancing, and more.

Intro to Aerial (16+) $220Purchase required to enroll

This course will provide an in depth experience of aerial fabric and static trapeze. By the end of the class you will have a repertoire of vocabulary on each apparatus and be able to string various moves together into sequences. Come ready to work and play hard! Class starts with a playful tumbling based warm up and stretch and ends with a brief cool down. Students are encouraged to supplement this class with aerial conditioning, stretching, and open practice. Open to beginners or those with previous experience who want to continue refining and building on the basics.

Youth Circus (6-8yrs) $220Purchase required to enroll

This youth circus class has it all! Tumbling, juggling, wire walking, aerials and more! Please note that there are 2 class options: Mondays OR Tuesdays from 4-5pm.

Homeschool Circus (7-12yrs) $202Purchase required to enroll

A special daytime class just for homeschool and unschooled kids! We'll be doing all of the circus arts - aerial, juggling, balancing, tight wire, props, and more - plus lots of games, acrobatics, and pyramids.

Junior Troupe $360Purchase required to enroll

Junior Troupe is an exciting new opportunity for young artists who have previous circus experience and are enrolled in classes at Circus Culture. Participation is via invitation or audition only. Ages 8-12.

The expectation of being in the troupe is that you participate for the entire 2018/2019 school year- through the fall, winter, and spring terms. There will be a variety of performance and special training opportunities for members of the troupe. We can work with/around schedules as long as you are committed to being a part of the group! To audition email info@circusculture.org Troupers are expected to take part in at least one other weekly session in addition to the Thursday time - any skills class that fits their age range counts!

Financial assistance is available on a case by case basis if needed.

Troupe $360Purchase required to enroll

Troupe is an exciting opportunity for young artists (ages 13+) with circus experience who are currently enrolled in classes at Circus Culture who wish to pursue technical and artistic circus training in an inclusive environment. Participation is via invitation or audition only. Troupers are expected to take part during the entire 2018/19 school year - through Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions at Circus Culture. We are open to working around scheduling issues for those invited to participate when necessary.

Troupers are expected to take part in at least one other class session per week from the list below, and are encouraged to purchase a monthly unlimited community class pass which entitles them to unlimited participation in drop in classes. To audition email info@circusculture.org

For youth turning 13 who are seeking to shift from Jr. troupe to troupe - please contact info@circusculture.org before registering to confirm which troupe is best. In some cases our teachers may recommend that youth stay in Jr. Troupe even if they are 13.

Adult All Things Circus $202Purchase required to enroll

All things circus takes a gentle approach to teaching a wide variety of circus disciplines that we offer at Circus Culture. This class is perfect for any adult wishing to try it all - juggling, acrobatics, aerial, balancing, handstands, and more - in an inclusive environment.

Lyra 1 (16+) $220Purchase required to enroll

Pre-requisite: Intro to Lyra, 16+

Mixed Aerial 2/3 (16+) $220Purchase required to enroll

Prerequisites:
Level 2
Fabric: Can successfully climb the fabric two ways, invert from the air, execute a hip key in the air, figure 8 foot knot, and aerial dance wraps, can do the revolving door drop comfortably.
Trapeze: One knee hang, one straddle up under the bar, hold yourself up in pull up position for 15 seconds, pull over on the trapeze (legs can help!), hold a front balance.

Level 3
Fabric: At least 3 different climbs performed cleanly including opposite side straddle climb. Consistent revolving door drop, single star drop, windmill hip keys on both sides, cross back straddle, Rebecca split, and half monty. Fluency and comfort experimenting in the air and ability to do a pull up to bicep hold after executing three consecutive movements in a row without coming down.
Trapeze: Clean back beats and knee beats, at least one pull up, sitting on bar pull up to backward roll, successful front balance + roll down and roll back up to front balance.

Intro to Lyra (16+) $220Purchase required to enroll

Pre-requisite: Intro to Aerial
Learn the art of Lyra, or aerial hoop. This class is designed for those trying Lyra for the first time as well as individuals who have a beginner level vocabulary on Lyra.

Mixed Aerial 1 (16+) $220Purchase required to enroll

Pre-requisites: must have completed 12 classes of Intro to Aerial
Although this class is for 16+ we may make exceptions for youth who are serious aerialists. Contact us if you are interested.

Intro to Acro and Aerial (10-18yrs) $220Purchase required to enroll

For mature teens and tweens who are excited about learning circus skills - this class will focus on acrobatics, tumbling, and aerial arts. This class is for new students or students wishing to refine fundamental skills.

Youth Intermediate Aerial $220Purchase required to enroll

For intermediate aerial we ask that youth show the ability to retain patterns and techniques over time as well as a desire to self practice to improve.

Pre-requisites
Trapeze:
Be able to get on trapeze without a spot
Invert in the ropes
Hold yourself up in pull up position for 10 seconds
Pull over on the trapeze (legs can help!)

Youth Tumbling Basics (6-9yrs) $202Purchase required to enroll

This class is designed to offer the basics of tumbling to beginners including rolls, jumps, cartwheels, and other developmentally appropriate patterns in a supportive, playful, and non-competitive environment.

Acro and Aerial 1 (10-18yrs) $220Purchase required to enroll

Pre-requisites: climbing solo on fabric, comfortable sitting on shoulders
For mature teens and tweens who are excited about learning circus skills - this class will focus on acrobatics, tumbling, and aerial arts. This class is for students with previous circus experience.

Acro and Aerial 2 (10-18yrs) $220Purchase required to enroll

Pre-requisite: standing on shoulders, inverting in the air independently on fabric, pull over to front balance roll up on trapeze

Tumbling and Circus for 3-5 year olds (Tues) $220Purchase required to enroll

This class is designed to offer the basics of tumbling including rolls, jumps, cartwheels, and other developmentally appropriate patterns in a supportive, playful, and non-competitive environment. Students will also work on a variety of circus skills including aerials, balancing, wire walking and more.

Youth Lyra (10-18yrs) $220Purchase required to enroll

For students ages 10-18 who have taken at least 1 session class at Circus Culture. This class will focus on fundamental Lyra technique and skills. Students should be mature enough to remember patterning from week to week. Please contact us if you are under 10 and interested in taking this class.
